It was August 18, 1986, in Tacoma, Wash, when Michelle and Rob Tate welcomed their daughter, Miesha Theresa Tate. When she was a kid, she used to hang around with a lot of boys. She attended Franklin Pierce High School and Central Washington University for her high school and college studies, respectively. At school, she tended to get into fights with the boys.
In year 2005, Tate won the girls’ state championship. In response to her friends’ pleas to join a mixed martial arts gym, she became intrigued by Brazilian jiu-jitsu. Meisha Tate took on Muay Thai specialist Elizabeth Posener in an amateur bout in March of 2006. Before turning professional, she had a 5/1 amateur record.
In November 2007, she debuted in MMA. Tate won the FCF Women’s Bantamweight Championship in April of 2009. Valerie Coolbaugh reclaimed her championship in January 2010 after defeating her. In June 2008, she made her Strikeforce debut. Elaina Maxwell was defeated in her maiden match by her. Tate became the Strikeforce Women’s Bantamweight Tournament Champion in August 2010 by defeating Hitomi Akano in the finals.
In February of 2013, she made her UFC debut. Ronda Rousey beat her to the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Championship in December 2013. She won the UFC Bantamweight Championship by defeating Holly Holm in March of that year. During UFC 205 in November of 2016, Tate was defeated by Raquel Pennington. After that, she made an official announcement about her departure from the sport of mixed martial arts.
In addition to her work in MMA, Meisha Tate may be seen in the documentary Fight Life. The EA Sports UFC video game has also included her in a supporting role there as well. ESPN Body Issue and Fitness Gurls have also featured her on their covers. She also joined the KHI Management Company in year 2014.

Miesha is married to fellow Martial Artist, Johnny Nunez, according to our sources. Miesha made her relationship public in January of 2018, and the pair announced the birth of their first child together, daughter Amaia Nevaeh Nuez, in June of the same year. In June 2020, the couple had their second child, a son named Daxton Wylder Nuez. The couple and their children presently reside in Tacoma, Washington.
