Michael Jerome Oher was born in Memphis, Tennessee, on May 28, 1986, as Michael Jerome Williams J. to Denise Oher and Michael Jerome Oher. He was placed in foster care when he was seven years old.
Michael attended Briarcrest Christian School and was a member of the football team. In 2005, he played in the US Army All American Bowl. He was offered several scholarships to attend many institutions, but he decided to play for Ed Oregon at the University of Mississippi.
Michael Oher declared for the 2008 NFL Draft, but later changed his mind. The Baltimore Ravens selected him 23rd overall in the 2009 NFL Draft. He signed a five-year contract with the Ravens in July 2009. He started the season as a right tackle, but was shifted to left tackle later in the season, and then back to right tackle.
He received the Super Bowl ring in February 2013 after defeating the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl VLVI. Following that, in March 2014, he signed a four-year contract with the Tennessee Titans. For the Tennessee Titans, he started 11 games.
In the 2014 season, he was the 74th best tackle. The Titans released Oher in February of 2015.Other then signed a two-year contract with the Carolina Panthers in March 2015. He was a member of the Panthers in Super Bowl 50 in 2016. His contract with the Panthers was extended for another three years in June of the same year.
He only appeared in three games during the 2016 season due to an injury. After failing the physical, he was released by the Carolina Panthers in July 2017. Michael Oher’s autobiography, Beat The Odds: From Homelessness to The Blind Side and Beyond, was published in 2011.
