Matt Asiata is a running back for the Minnesota Vikings of the National Football League in the United States (NFL). He played collegiate football at Utah and went undrafted in the 2011 NFL Draft.

Matt Asiata, sometimes known as Matthew Retinai Asiata, is a well-known American football player. He was born in Garden Grove, California, on July 24, 1987. Garden Grove is a beautiful and populous city in the United States of America, located in Garden Grove, California. Matthew Retinai Asiata began his professional football career as an American football player.
Asiata spent two seasons as a running back at Snow College in Ephraim, Utah, after failing to qualify out of high school. He ran for 781 yards on 144 carries and five touchdowns in his first season. Despite missing one game due to a hamstring injury, Asiata set a new school record for single running yards
Asiata played running back for the University of Utah from 2007 to 2010, where he was an All-Conference selection. Asiata concluded his career with the Utes in third place all-time in running touchdowns with 24.After the lockout ended on July 27, 2011, Asiata signed as an undrafted free agent with the Minnesota Vikings and attended training camp and preseason with the team.
On September 5, he was placed on the practice squad after being dismissed by the club at the final cuts, but two days later he was cut. He spent a couple of weeks on a tryout with the UFL’s Omaha Nighthawks after no NFL organizations expressed interest in him.
Asiata was a key member of the team’s special teams in his second season, and he also filled in as running back late in the season due to injuries. Despite only accumulating 51 yards on 30 runs, Asiata came in for both injured running backs Adrian Peterson and Toby Gerhart on 15th of December.
He equaled the record for most running touchdowns by a Viking in a single game with three. Asiata signed with the Alliance of American Football’s Salt Lake Stallions for the 2019 season in 2018. Asiata’s totals were 7 runs for 10 yards and a score. On March 12, 2019, he was placed on injured reserve. In April of this year, the league came to an end.

Asiata has a Samoan ancestry. He has three boys and two daughters and is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Shawn Asiata, his brother, was also a running back for the Utes, while Isaac Asiata, his cousin, was an offensive lineman for the Miami Dolphins and Buffalo Bills.
After being released by the Vikings in 2011, he returned to Utah and found work as a forklift driver in a large warehouse. He also appears as an extra in the fourth season of HBO’s Game of Thrones.
