Marv Albert is often recognized as basketball’s voice. For his nearly 60 years in the field, the retired sportscaster has been inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, the National Sportscasters Hall of Fame and the Sports Hall of Fame.

Marvin Philip Aufrichtig attended Syracuse University’s Newhouse School of Public Communications. He worked as a commentator for the Syracuse Chiefs in 1962. In the end, he received his bachelor’s degree from New York University in 1965.
In 1963, Albert began working as an announcer for the New York Knicks. His thoughts were carried on WCBS Radio. At the Boston Garden, the game was against the Celtics. Albert was the radio and television voice of the New York Knicks for 37 years, starting in 1967 and ending in 2007.
Albert was also the NBA’s principal play-by-play commentator on NBC throughout the majority of the league’s tenure, from 1990 to 2002. With the exception of 1998, 1999, and 2000, he called every NBA Finals. Albert joined the TNT as a permanent announcer in 2002.
In addition, Albert remained the principal play-by-play commentator for National Basketball Association games on TNT, a job he had taken on in 1999. Albert officially became the New Jersey Nets’ primary play-by-play announcer in 2005, and he began calling their games on the YES Network.
Finally, Albert departed the YES Network in 2011 to work for CBS Sports, where he covered the NFL and NCAA tournaments. Albert was thinking of getting retired after the NBA game of 2021 and the news was made public after two days.
Game 6 of the Eastern Conference finals, between the Milwaukee Bucks and the Atlanta Hawks, was Albert’s most recent game commentary.
Albert has worked as a commentator for the New York Rangers, New York Giants, Monday Night Football and NFL on CBS in addition to basketball. He’s also done color commentary for a few NHL games. He is a member of the Basketball Hall of Fame and is known as the voice of basketball.

Albert Aufrichtig is the son of Max and Alida Aufrichtig and was born in New York, United States. His family members operated Aufrichtig, a food business on Brighton Beach Avenue between 3rd and 4th Streets. He was also born into a Jewish household.
Albert has two brothers, Al Albert and Steve Albert. Albert has been married to Heather Faulkiner since 1998, according to sources. Between 1965 to 1992, he was married to Benita Oberlander. Kenny Albert, Brian Albert, Jackie Albert, and Denise Albert are Albert’s four children.
