Mario Chalmers was born in Anchorage, Alaska, on May 19, 1986. Mario Chalmers is the son of Ronnie and Almarie Chalmers, both of whom have been involved in the development of basketball players. Ronnie Chalmers was a former head basketball coach at Bartlett High School and at Kansas University. Almarie Mosley Chalmers has coached several basketball camps and is the author of The Ball Is in Your Court.
Chalmers graduated from Bartlett High School in Anchorage, Alaska and was selected the 4 A State Player of the Year 3 times in a row at that school. Chalmers formed an unusual alliance with Trajan Langdon, the only other player to do so at the time. Chalmers would go on to win two state titles with his Bartlett team.
Chalmers also lead Bartlett to a runner-up finish in 2004 and was rated as a 5-star recruit by Rivals dot com, a respected source. Chalmers was ranked as the nation’s No 2 point guard as well as the nation’s No 12 overall player.
