Valles was born in Winslow Township, New Jersey, in the Sicklerville neighborhood. He was a wide receiver in high school at Peddie School in Hightstown, New Jersey. His junior year, he was named to the First Team All-New Jersey Prep team.
While at Peddie, he also played quarterback and defensive back. Valles was a member of Monmouth University’s Monmouth Hawks from 2012 to 2015. In 2011, he was redshirted. At Monmouth, he majored in Business Administration.
From 2011 to 2013, he was a wide receiver and appeared in four games and in 2013, he appeared in 12 games. During training camp in 2014, he switched to tight end. During his collegiate career, he appeared in 38 games, starting 20 of them. He has 40 catches for 491 yards and three scores in his career.
During the 2014 season, he featured in 11 games, starting nine of them. He has 18 receptions for 255 yards and three touchdowns on 18 targets. In his senior year of 2015, he started all 11 games. He hauled in 22 passes for 236 yards. As a senior, he was also a team captain.
