Damien Woody is a famous and renown former football offensive lineman who was born on 3rd of November 1977, in Beaverdam, Virginia, USA. Woody attended Patrick Henry High School in Ashland, Virginia, where he was a part of the Patrick Henry Patriots football team, who won the Virginia State Championship in 1994.
He enrolled at Boston College in Massachusetts, where he became an All-American and All-Big East offensive guard for the Eagles football team. The New England Patriots picked Woody as the 17th overall choice in the first round of the 1999 NFL Draft. He started all 16 regular season games in his debut season with the squad after being picked as a center, but eventually switched to guard and tackle.
Woody established himself as a valuable player despite his struggles with delivering the snap in the shotgun configuration. In year 2001, he earned his 1st trip to the Super Bowl, and was named to the Pro Bowl. His second Super Bowl selection occurred in year 2003, and he helped his club win 2 Super Bowls, which boosted his popularity.
After becoming a free agent, he signed with the Detroit Lions in year 2004 and was named to the Pro Bowl as an alternate later that year. After starting every game the previous and succeeding seasons, Woody was forced to miss the most of the 2006 season due to injuries.
In year 2008, he signed a 5-year, $25 million contract with the New York Jets, which included $11 million in guaranteed money. However, he suffered an Achilles injury in a game and squad terminated him shortly after that, and the player declared his retirement from professional football later that year.
Following his retirement, Woody sought a career in television, eventually becoming a television NFL commentator for ESPN, where he has been ever since, and can be seen on NFL Live, SportsCenter, and other ESPN shows, adding to his fortune.
