Bryson DeChambeau was born in 1993 to Janet and John DeChambeau in Modesto, California. DeChambeau’s family relocated to Clovis when he was 7 years old, and he went on to Clovis East High School, where he won the California State Junior Championship. He got a scholarship at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, after graduating in year 2012.
DeChambeau made history at SMU in year 2015 by being the 1st golfer from the institution to win the NCAA individual title, shooting a 280 to win by a single stroke. Only a few months later, he created even more history by winning the US Amateur Championship. As a consequence, DeChambeau joined Ryan Moore, Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, and Jack Nicklaus as the 6th player in history to win both the NCAA and US Amateur titles in the same year.
DeChambeau became professional after winning the year 2016 Masters and signed a long-term deal with Cobra-Puma Golf. He made his professional debut at the RBC Heritage a few days later, finishing tied for 4th and earning roughly $260k.
