Andrew James Whitworth was born in the year 1981 on December 12th. He attended West Monroe High School and was born and reared in Monroe, Louisiana. Don Shows was his high school football coach, and he used to play for the Rebels. He obtained his diploma in 2001. From 1998 to 2000, he was a part of two Louisiana Class 5A State Champion football teams.
He was a member of four straight district championship teams in one of the hardest districts later in his career. He was also a tennis champion in Louisiana and afterwards a terrific golfer. Andrew participated in the US Army All-American Bowl in 2000, along with many others.
Andrew started playing football for the Rebels in high school under Don Shows and continued with them through graduation. He was selected a first-team Freshman All-American in 2002 after starting every game as a redshirt freshman.
It’s safe to say that he started all 14 games during the 2003 season and amassed 1,008 snaps and 105 important blocks with 82 knockdowns. As of 2005, he was second in NCAA Division I with 52 straight starts.
From left guard to left tackle in 2008, Whitworth’s performance suffered immediately as a result. Andrew was chosen to the AFC Pro Bowl as a left tackle for the first time in his career in 2013. Whitworth joined the Los Angeles Rams in 2017 after leaving the Cincinnati Bengals.
With the Rams, Whitworth made his fourth Pro Bowl appearance in just his first year with the team. His peers placed him at 87th on their list of the NFL’s top 100 players for 2018. Whitworth signed a 3-year contract with the Rams in year 2020.
Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year award went to Whitworth at the 11th Annual NFL Honors. Whitworth earned his first Super Bowl for what would undoubtedly be his final match after the Rams defeated his previous club, the Cincinnati Bengals, 23/20 in Super Bowl LVI.
